Louisa M A Heiny
Adjunct Professor of Law
Prior to teaching at the University of Utah College of Law, Louisa Heiny was a Professor of Legal Writing at the University of Colorado Law School from 2003 to 2009. While at CU, she taught Legal Writing, Appellate Advocacy, Trial Advocacy, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Law. In her first year, the student body named her the Outstanding New Professor. Professor Heiny was a member of the Colorado Supreme Court Sub-Committee on Plain Language Jury Instructions, and an Appellate Judge for the University of Colorado Office of Judicial Affairs.
Professor Heiny studied law at the University of Colorado School of Law, where she was an associate editor of the University of Colorado Law Review and a Rothgerber Teaching Fellow. After graduating Order of the Coif, she clerked for Chief Judge Lewis T. Babcock of the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and practiced as a Deputy District Attorney in the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
